Dushanbe

Capital of Tajikistan at 800m elevation, Dushanbe is the launchpad for all mountain adventures. The National Museum houses an impressive 13-meter reclining Buddha. Hissar Fortress (3,000 years old) is a day trip away. A green city with wide boulevards, excellent bazaars, and authentic Tajik cuisine.
